Volunteers needed to serve at St. Joseph Table!

The St. Joseph Table dinner will be held again this year on March 19, 2011 at St Thomas Parish, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville. The dinner benefits the poor and homeless in the community. In 2010, the St. Joseph Table was a great success in large part to the assistance of Knights from Naperville Council 1369 and their wives. Dinner was served to over 400 guests and $2700 was donated to the community, half of which was given to the St Thomas Care Pantry and half to St. Vincent DePaul. The dinner also gave our council a lot of recognition and appreciation from St Thomas Parish and has lead to increased membership in our council from that parish. St Joseph Table is an Italian celebration that began in Sicily and led to Italians setting a beautiful table (called an altar) and inviting the poor of the community into their homes for dinner. It was celebrated on St Joseph Day as St Joseph was the earthly provider of food and necessities to Jesus and Mary.

Knights (and their wives or significant others) are needed for a shift on Friday, March 18, 2011, from 10 am to 3:00 pm to begin to prepare food for the dinner, set tables and the altar and decorate. Knights (and their wives or significant others) are also needed for two shifts on Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 12 noon to 4 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm to finish preparing the dinner, running food to the tables, serving the food, acting as bartenders and washing dishes and cleaning up afterwards. Two dinner seatings will be held on March 19, at 4:30 pm and at 6:30 pm.

Volunteers are needed for the following dates and times (click on a slot below to sign up):

If your wife or significant other will be joining you to volunteer, please include their name as a separate volunteer so that we can get an accurate count of total volunteers. Please wear your Knights shirt to the dinner so the council will get recognition in the St Thomas parish for our efforts to assist them. Should you have any questions, please click here to contact Bob Merten.
