With faith and hope in Eternal Life and with gratitude for a beautiful Christian life, I wish to inform you that Bishop Roger Kaffer died this afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m. His brother, Bob, and I had the privilege of being with him, and we gratefully commended him into the arms of the Lord he loved so much. Since his death occurred just a short while ago, no arrangements have been made as of yet. However, as soon as we know more, we will let everyone know.
In the meantime, please keep Bob and Liz, and the entire Kaffer family in your prayers as their grieve the loss of their beloved brother.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

I was quite vocal in expressing my disappointment over 1369’s participation in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, so I feel it is only fair that I be equally as vocal in my praise of our turnout for the Memorial Day parade. We had a very good showing of all degrees and their families. Well done! The streets of Naperville were packed with spectators. I think the crowds get bigger every year. The thing that gave me a thrill was the way the crowds applauded our unit. They started applauding as soon as they saw our color guard approaching, and continued doing so until we all passed by. It was sort of an affirmation that the people of Naperville know and approve of our charitable efforts. It gave me a real thrill! Hopefully, all of you who attended shared my feelings. If so, and you had fun marching, tell your fellow Knights, and perhaps we can have an even larger showing for the Labor Day parade. Well done 1369!

Our Council will be sponsoring a Bean Bag Toss Tournament on Sunday, June 28th from 3:30 to 7:00 PM. It will be held in the parking lot at the KC Hall. This is a TEAMS only tournament, whether they are men, ladies or couples, you will be competing against each other. Tournament play and rules will depend upon the number of entrants. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams. The number of teams is limited to 24. We plan on setting up six courts in the gravel area of the parking lot. If you have access to a set of platforms and some bags, please let us know – we would like to borrow them. In that the KC lot will be closed that afternoon, you will be able to park your cars in the lot that is north of the KC Hall (please enter on Wright Street which is the first street west of the hall).
Reservations for this event are REQUIRED. Please contact Frank McGee at 630-926-5974 to make a reservation for yourself, your team and any others that will attending no later than June 21st (also, please have the courtesy to cancel your reservation if it becomes necessary). You may also contact Larry Pociask at 630-355-1789. The entry fee for the tournament is $20.00 per person which includes food and drink – adults, not participating in the tournament, is $7.00 and children (K-12) is $4.00. Those not participating in the tournament should have an opportunity to play after tournament play has been completed. Please note that this is a fund raising event and that the proceeds will assist our Council in paying dues for those Knights that are experiencing financial difficulties during these rough economic times.
