So far no one has answered my plea for a Carson Community Day chairman or workers. I went to Carsons this week, and learned more about the Community Day process. Every organization that wants to sell Community Day coupon booklets on February 26, “the” Community Day, must first volunteer to pre-sell booklets in advance of the big day. So, I signed us up for Saturday 2/12 from 10 am until noon. We will need seven volunteers plus myself for that day. I will also have the booklets for you to purchase, or for you to take home to your wives, at the meeting next Tuesday night. We will be notified by e-mail what time slot we are given for the 26th. I requested an am time, but there are no guarantees since those times are assigned via a lottery drawing. So, for now I urgently need seven volunteers to help pre-sell the booklets at Carsons on Sat. 2/12 from 10 am until noon. Then we will need seven to work on Sat. 2/26 at whatever time we are given. If you can help either day, please contact me ASAP at darrell.hutton@sbcglobal.net or 630-961-0526. Thank you for your help. We need an activity chairman plus five or six volunteers to work Carson Pierie Scott’s Community Days, Saturday, Feb. 26. The chairman would be responsible for picking up some Carson Community Day coupon booklets at Carson’s in the Fox Valley mall. The coupon booklets sell for $5 / ea., and have numerous coupons inside for discounts on merchandise purchased in the store on Sat. 2/26. One offers a $10 discount on a purchase exceeding $10, so the consumer gets the $5 they pay for the booklet back very quickly. And, we get to keep the $5, so it is a win for the council, a win for the consumer, and a win for Carsons! The coupon booklets can be pre-sold prior to 2/26 at our council meeting, or anywhere else the chairman wishes. On 2/26 Carson’s will assign us a one to two hour time slot during which the chairman and his volunteers will sell the booklets at the entrances to Carson’s in Westfield’s Fox Valley Mall. We again get to keep all of the proceeds from selling the coupon booklets. This is a quick and easy chairmanship and volunteer task, but it can earn several hundred dollars for the council twice a year in the spring and fall. It would be a good task for some of our new brother Knights to cut their teeth on. If you would like to volunteer as chairman or as a volunteer, please contact Darrell Hutton at darrell.hutton@sbcglobal.net, or 630-961-0526. Please do so ASAP, so we can begin pre-selling the booklet immediately. |
