We will soon be entering the last week of Football Mania! Have you been able to sell your tickets yet? Remember that the Knights will directly get the lion’s share of any $20 ticket that you are able to sell to family, friends or that you purchase yourself.
If you have tickets that you have sold, remember that the sale is no good unless I enter it into our system. Make sure you get the purchaser’s information and money to me as soon as possible!!! Tickets can be dropped off at the Law Offices of Edward P. Graham during normal business hours, or you can give them to me at the next Knights meeting on September 7. If you have sold five or more tickets and live in the general viscinity, I will award you by offering to pick them up personally after hours – e-mail me (footballmaniatickets@gmail.com) and I will arrange to do so.
FINALLY, we need people to help this weekend to sell tickets outside of Mass – particularly at 9:30 and 11:00am, when I cannot be in two locations at once. Again, e-mail me with the Mass you attend if you go to SSPP and let me know that I can count on you to be there.
The Knights of Columbus (Council #1369) will conduct a pro life rosary beginning at 9:00 am in front of the Planned Parenthood clinic located at 3051 E. New York Street in Aurora. This will be an ongoing monthly event, that will be held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. The rosary will take about 20-30 minutes. Afterward, you may optionally join the monthly protest. The protest will last until 10:30 am. By the grace of God, your mere presence and prayer could actually save a life. Achieve, at least, a partial indulgence! Parking is right next door behind the Blockbuster store. In Addition to this monthly event, there is also a weekly rosary every Tuesday afternoon (2:00 pm) at the same location. There is usually a priest or deacon in attendance for these services. For further information, please contact John Zabinski at 630-369-8439.
Are you ready to help with our annual Tootsie Roll Drive to benefit people with intellectual disabilities? Our council needs many volunteers to help collect donations around the community — from Friday, September 17th, to Sunday, September 19th.
You can sign up here to volunteer! To sign up find your desired date and location, then click the green time slot link to enter your contact information.
If you need help, or have any questions regarding this event, you can contact Michael Gach.
For other questions regarding our Volunteer Management System, please contact our Webmaster.
Council 1369 will host their second and last blood drive of the year on Saturday, September 25th in SSPP’s Zuker Hall. Heartland Blood Center will once again be drawing the blood. The hours of the drive are from 7:00 AM until 12:30 PM. Walk-in’s are welcome after 9:00 AM.
As in the past, many volunteers will be needed both as donors and workers to make the drive a success. Sixteen Knights have already stepped forward and volunteered to call previous donors seeking donation appointments. Additional workers will be needed on Friday, Sept. 17th to stuff fliers in Mass bulletins, at least two Knights will be required to sign up donors after each Mass at SSPP the weekends of Sept. 11 & 12, and 18 & 19, and a couple Knights are needed to work the event itself. Twenty three 1369 Knights donated blood at our March drive. Hopefully, an even larger number will donate at this drive. Requests to fill each of these needs will be broadcast over our web site. If you can help, please – please do so. Don’t assume someone else has answered the call and ignore the request, because so often they haven’t.
Donating blood and working on the drive are some of the most important charitable activities that we as a council perform. One unit of blood, when broken down into its components of red blood cells, platelets, and plasma has the potential of saving as many as three lives! Those lives could be yours, that of a member of your family, a neighbor, or a brother Knight. All of the blood collected by Heartland at our drive will stay right here in our area at Edward, Central DuPage, and Rush – Copley hospitals to name only a few. Heartland has been the exclusive supplier of blood to Edward for years.
So, if you can, please sign up to make a blood donation. If for some reason you will be unable to donate on Sept. 25, you can donate at Heartland’s center in the Market Meadows Shopping Center between Sept. 1 and Oct. 10, give the receptionist our sponsor code of 100918, and we will receive credit for your donation. The need is great. If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer to help with the drive please contact Darrell Hutton at 630-961-0526 or darrell.hutton@sbcglobal.net.
